News: DC-2 under way

Published 12 September 2014, 17:11

Restoration of the Finnish Air Force Museum Douglas DC-2 is now forging ahead with a volunteer team at the Aviation Museum of Central Finland at Tikkakoski. It is hoped that the machine will be externally complete by September 2011.

Originally delivered to KLM in April 1935, it was acquired by the Finnish Air Force in January 1940. After conversion to a bomber, serialled DO-1, it forced-landed after its only bombing sortie against Soviet forces during the Winter War. It flew as a transport until retirement in 1955.
