The new year got under way in fine style at the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey, on January 1, with a record-setting 2,700 visitors visiting for the annual New Year’s Day gathering. Although it is predominantly a vintage car event, the museum’s Sopwith Camel replica, G-BFCZ, had its 140 h.p Clerget engine run-up for the appreciative audience. A highlight of 2011 will be a 75th anniversary Vickers Wellington event on June 15. Pilots, groundcrew, factory workers and anyone with connections to the type are invited.
