Vulcan flight test programme to resume
March 18, 2008
Vulcan to the Sky Trust have announced an 'open day' at XH558's Bruntingtorpe hangar following news that, as a result of continuing public support, they are now able to resume the aircraft's flight-test programme in time to fulfill a programme of airshow displays this summer.
According to VTST Chief Executive Dr Robert Pleming VTST have also received dedicated donations of £150,000 specifically to fund the Test Flight Programme. He did however state that the decision to proceed could only be made by trusting all supporters to keep the fund-raising momentum going. VYST still need to maintain a donation income of at least £50,000 per month to make it to the airshow season.
Donations can be sent to VTST, Bruntingthorpe Airfield, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, LE17 5QS, or by phone to 0116 247 8145, or online at www.vulcantothesky.com
XH558's hangar will be open to the public between 10:00 am and 4:00pm on Easter Sunday (March 23rd) to commemorate '558's 15 year stay at Bruntingthorpe - the longest period the aircraft has been stationed in one particular location since it was built in 1960.
