HAWKER HUNTER T.7
Following two previous popular subjects shot for The Aeroplane on early colour film, this month's selection is Hunter T.7 XL564, in a suitably dynamic pose and again resplendent in period Kodacolor. In common with the Gloster Javelin (August 2006) and Handley Page Victor (June 2007), XL564 was photographed while up from Farnborough for the 1958 SBAC show and is part of the handful of Kodacolor material that has come to light in the archive.

Seen here with its distinctive 1950s-era yellow trainer bands complemented by Day-Glo dummy stores, and with the Hawker Siddeley Group logo on the nose, XL564 went on to enjoy a distinguished career with the Empire Test Pilots' School, wearing an equally eyecatching “raspberry ripple” scheme. After an accident, its career finally ended in 1998.
