Thorney Island crash
Saturday, 19 February 2011 00:00

Q Michael Brydges asked in December about a Hastings crash at Thorney Island in the 1960s.

A Further to our reply, J.R. Burchell, stationed at Thorney from March 1963 to October 1964, recalls the crash of Hastings TG610 but believes it lost power on a go-around and did not hit the tower but demolished the radio/radar section workshops killing a senior NCO and injuring four others, the only crew injury being a broken thumb and bruises.
