Hermes G-ALDK at Karachi in August 1956. Hermes G-ALDK at Karachi in August 1956. Q Lyn Chesterfield asks for details of a photograph showing a BOAC Hermes on its nose. Her late father worked for BOAC and later British Airways for 40 years.

A This appears to be G-ALDK which was returning from Singapore with 72 passengers when it suffered an undercarriage collapse at Drigh Road airfield, Karachi, on August 5, 1956. Although in BOAC colours, it was being operated by Britavia; the damage was beyond repair but fortunately there were no casualties.
